Indian Wells
A mixture of country clubs, private estates, and exclusive hotels and resorts nestled at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains, Indian Wells lures those looking for a chill, private escape. Greet the day with a honey cinnamon latte made from local, organic roasts at the ultra-chic IW Coffee before teeing off on the same fairways President Eisenhower once played. Then get lost in total spa bliss at the Well Spa at Miramonte Resort, an oasis of citrus groves, eucalyptus-steam rooms, and hot and cool soaking pools.
When the sun goes down, dance the night away at The Nest, an iconic Indian Wells eatery known for nightly entertainment and its lively piano bar; indulge in a craft cocktail at The Pink Cabana, a modern Moroccan restaurant where the dining is as inspiring as the design (think pink ceilings and booths, a turquoise-tiled bar, and palm tree–print wallpaper); or challenge your friends to “Shots in the Night” at the Indian Wells Golf Resort, where glow-in-the-dark golf meets food-truck fare.
Tennis Galore
When it comes to tennis in Greater Palm Springs, nothing can compare. Since 2000, Indian Wells has hosted the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament, one of the biggest events outside of the Grand Slams, drawing hundreds of thousands of spectators each spring. Watch the pros rally it out in person, or follow in their footsteps by signing up for regularly scheduled lessons at the Tennis Gardens, held throughout the year.
